help

HELP! I need somebody, help!
I have such a hard time coming up with new foods to feed Jacoby. He is kind of a picky eater and doesn't like very many vegetables or meat, so that makes it hard. I feel like I feed him a lot of snacks most of the time such as crackers, rice cakes, goldfish, peaches, pears, oranges, corn, peas, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and beans. I just wanted to find out if any of my blogging buddies know of any great toddler cookbooks, recipes, or ideas of their own. I would really appreciate it! Thanks.

I know the "What to Expect" books have a recipe section, but I haven't tried any of them. Hopefully it's just a phase.

Hey, don't worry too much. My girls were both picky eaters, but as they get older, they try more stuff. Sometimes I will look at my Haylie and wonder how she survives on such a sparse diet, but she does. I guess the only advice I can give is to not push food on him too much. If you give him an option, eventually he'll start to try things. I know that probably isn't what you were looking for, but I had to let you know there was hope.
Your blog lurking friend,

Katie

I love that picture of Jacoby. I can't believe how much is he looking like Thomas!

Keep offering him the other stuff. Don't force it on him but I read somewhere that you have to offer a food to a child 3-5 times before they feel comfortable trying it. My kids never really liked the baby food, it was the real stuff they liked. Between the three of them we went through less than 20 jars of baby food. They liked to eat what they saw us eating. Just make sure the pieces are small enough that they can be swallowed even if they don't chew it at all. My kids will eat anything so something must have worked!

Ok Missy, you have to call Jenn! Landon is a horrible eater. Jenn has a cook book that is called something like "Deceptively Delicious" or something, and it tells ways to hide veggies and other healthy stuff in food. For example; she put mashed peas in cookies and she said she couldn't taste them and Landon loved them. She made yellow squash mac n'cheese and a lot of other things. She loves that book! Just call her. By the way, I love the picture of Jacoby, and yes we are going to live in the Mesa area. Come stay with us sometime, if we have a house yet.;)

Thanks everyone for you helpful ideas! I'm going to try some of these things out. Nicole, I think I'm going to have to get that book! I thought I remembered hearing that Jenn had some good recipes for hiding vegetables; that will be great.

I wish that I could give you some advice about what to fix for kids to eat. I used to love trying new recipes and do a lot of cooking--until my kids told me how icky everything was and I sort of lost my interest in it. Oh well, now that I have you married daughters who cook such yummy stuff I am starting to think a little bit more about cooking. I am sure you will find some good recipes for kids and that Jacoby will love them! Well, at least I hope so, for your sake.
