Jacoby took this picture. It took forever for him to get this one, and I don't even like it but oh well. He thought he was pretty important.

I thought it was time I did a little update on how my pregnancy is going. Mainly just for myself and maybe my mom and sisters to see some pictures. We're getting so excited to have our little girl and have been getting a few things ready. We brought back a bunch of baby stuff at Christmas that we had left in Idaho. My grandparents were able to bring some bigger items, which we appreciated so much. I've been working on a few projects for her: blankets, burp cloths, bibs, her quilt for her room, and some headbands. We've already decided on her name, Hallie Sue. Sue is after Tyler's Grandma Sue who passed away and it sounds great with Hallie we think. Tyler and I have loved it since we were expecting Jacoby, so we are pretty set on it and I've already started monogramming things. :) Jacoby talks about her a lot and doesn't know why she can't come out now. He's going to be a great helper to me, he's very sweet and caring with babies.

Here's a list I want to update occasionally throughout my pregnancy:

how far along: 29 weeks on Tuesday

total weight gain: 22 pounds (oh boy)

maternity clothes: That is all I can wear now, and even my long stretchy shirts are starting to show my big belly at the bottom, and that isn't attractive.

told family and friends: Yes, we told at 16 weeks.

miss anything: Yes, I miss hot baths, cookie dough, my regular clothes, painting my toes comfortably, and sleeping on my stomach.

movement: I feel her moving all the time. I can feel her little bum or a knee staying in one place too. Feeling her move all day makes me so happy. Tyler teases me for always having my hand on my stomach.

food cravings: Not really, just a lot of chocolate, but that isn't exclusive to my pregnancy I don't think. :)

anything make you quesy or sick: If I don't eat regularly I get really sick and throw up.

Have you started to show yet: Oh yeah, I think it was very obvious at 4 1/2 months.

labor signs: nope

belly button in or out: Definitely out, but I already had and outie so now it's just really pushed out and weird. :)

happy or moody: Mostly happy, I'm feeling good right now.

looking forward to: seeing Jacoby and Hallie together, taking naps with her, and dressing her up
aches and pains: Yes, I do get those ligament pains pretty often.

symptoms: quite a bit of energy still, hard to get out of bed in the morning, and hungry

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

We enjoyed a great trip home for Christmas and were sad to leave. We had so much fun with our families and were so happy we could go home for Christmastime. We did so many fun things that I can hardly remember everything.

Grandma Debie helped Jacoby make some donut snowmen. He loved it and felt so important. Jacoby's elf, Bernard, came to meet him from the North Pole. He did all sorts of funny things. (Bernard is an elf's name on The Santa Claus.) Since Jacoby is such a boy and likes to talk about bums and undies, he thought this was extra funny. Other things Bernard did: drew faces on a photo of Jacoby, held baby Jesus in a nativity, wore the reindeer glasses, drove the pirate ship, had a snowball fight with his cousins' elves, and hung from a light. I think he's really scary looking, but it was fun to do and Jacoby loved it!

We went bowling a couples times and Jacoby even managed to get a few spares.

Had lunch with my mom and the "big girls" for Janet's favorite things. My parents spoil us with gifts of some of my mom's favorite things. It is always a blast.

Jacoby was excited about his dinosaur pajamas and so excited for Christmas the next morning. This year was so fun with him!

I just love to look at him when he's sleeping. Too bad he doesn't stay like this for long, he is not a good sleeper. Ha.

We're so grateful for this Christmas season and the opportunity we have to think of Jesus. I feel so blessed for all the I've been given. Spending time with family at Christmastime is what it's all about and it makes me realize what is most important in life. I'm grateful for all of the wonderful gifts we received. We can't believe that next Christmas we will have a four-year-old and an eight-month-old baby girl. We couldn't be happier!

Tyler just finished his first semester and had a couple wonderful weeks off. We just loved having him home. We did some fun things like golfing, eating good food, and a little shopping. It was so fun to take Jacoby miniature golfing because he loves golf right now. He didn’t want to follow all the rules and kept picking up the ball and hitting it from wherever and then taking it to the next place before he made it in the hole, but he was thrilled. We just had to bite our tongues and let him kind of do his own thing. Tyler also helped me so much around the house and cleaned and got out Christmas decorations for me. We love him and miss him when he is so busy with school. He works so hard and does so well and I’m so proud of him!

We were also able to go home for a week. It was GREAT! I love home more than anything. I think whenever we go home we realize how blessed we are to have the wonderful families that we have. It is hard being away from all of them, but it means so much to us that whenever we come visit, they all take time to spend time with us and care about us. We did some fun things together, but really just enjoyed Thanksgiving with them and relaxed.

There are a lot of things I didn’t take pictures of while we were home, but one thing my mom, sisters, and I were able to do is go to The Help. We all read the book, and have been waiting to go to it together. Thanks for waiting for me guys. It was SO good, I absolutely loved it. I really enjoyed the book and the movie followed it so well.

I’m so excited for Christmastime; it’s the most wonderful time of the year! I love the holidays and being with family!

Eden and Steph Come Visit

This post is nearly a month overdue, but I still wanted to post about it. Steph and Eden were able to come visit us last month and we had such a good time. Some of the things we did so I don’t forget: lots of shopping for our babies, swimming in the hot tub, playing in the sand, made skeleton shirts for Halloween, picnic at Anthem, park, school carnival, Chick-Fil-A, trick-or-treating, The Children’s Museum, Red Lobster, baked pears, and fabric key chains.

Shorts and dresses on Halloween? What?!

Yes, our hearts are on the wrong side. We knew that before we started, but because of how we got the template, that is what happened. See my little bow on my baby girl skeleton?

Isn’t Eden’s wig rad? Steph made it. It is really awesome, but I kept telling people, “You think that hair is cool, you have to see her real hair. It’s so adorable and naturally curly.”

We almost didn’t make it to The Children’s Museum because they were closed for half the time they were here. The kids had such a great time and spent a long time there.

These two are such little buddies. I think you can definitely tell they are related, what do you think? I’m so excited for these two to have siblings; Eden will be a great big sister and Jacoby will be a great big brother. Thanks for coming to see us Steph and Eden! We love you so much and miss you guys like crazy.

We just found out that we're having a GIRL! We are so excited. Tyler has always thought it was a girl and I wasn't too sure, but since he seemed so sure of it, I kind of thought it was a girl too. Jacoby is so excited and always talks about our baby girl. We did't have a preference on what it was, either way would be fun. Yes, I have already been shopping and working on projects. I'm not used to shopping for a girl, it is so different, but I love it. We're so grateful that she looks healthy in there. Thanks for all the nice comments from everyone. We have so many great friends and family!

oh, baby

I'm so happy to announce that we're having a baby! It has been killing me to wait this long. I'm glad that things are going well now and hope they will continue to. I'm due April 3rd, so 5 1/2 months away. We have a lot of family with birthdays in April, so it will be a great month to be born. The baby is even due on my brother-in-law's birthday. I'm grateful for the opportunity we have to be parents again. We are so excited for Jacoby to have a little brother or sister. He is excited and talks about the baby in my tummy and how he sees the baby at the doctor's. He will be such a good helper to me when the baby comes.

I'm excited to be pregnant at the same time as Steph, too! She is just two months ahead of me. Look how cute she is! She is having a little boy.

We will find out pretty soon what we are having and I will post as soon as I find out!

family, isn’t it great to love people this much

I was so excited to have my family come visit last week. Their flight was delayed six hours because of the snow, but we were finally able to see them Friday. It was so great to see them and the time just flew by. Here are some of the things we did:I have been wanting a runner to go under my TV instead of the dish towel that was currently there. Real classy. My mom made this for me and I love it. I had seen a quilt like this on Pinterest. I love the pleated edge. Thanks, Mom, you are so talented!

She brought all the stuff to make dresden plates. It went perfectly under my chunky candlestick. I’m excited to make more.

Jacoby was so excited to see Grandpa Mike. He loved all the attention he got that week. On Friday we met at a really fun park. Jacoby and Annie had fun riding on the train there. Then we hit the outlets afterword.

As much as Jacoby loves to play football, he can sure throw it, but catching it is pretty disastrous. He was so funny to watch.

Aunt Olivia was being silly looking through our pictures and kept saying wrong names of the people in the pictures to make Jacoby laugh.

My dad is just the best. He is always doing so many thoughtful things for everyone. I love being around him. He is such a great example to me.

A place that we all love to go, In-N-Out. Yummy!

We love croquet, so we went to the park to play a game. The balls went lots further than normal because of the short, crunchy grass. Have a mentioned I miss the grass at home? Ha ha. That is kind of a funny thing to miss.

Jacoby loved having someone to sleep on the trundle next to him.

I’m really glad Thomas was able to come for the weekend. It was fun to have him see where we live. I wish him and my dad could’ve stayed longer, and with the delay in their flight, it made the weekend way too short.

Olivia was craving chocolate-dipped bananas so she made a bunch. We had quite a few for breakfast over the next couple days.

Since Annie and Olivia had to miss some school, Annie had to make these yummy cookies for her cooking class and take pictures to show her teacher. They were so yummy with these mini Reeses Pieces. We spent lots of time swimming, eating good food, and playing games. My dad grilled some yummy salmon for dinner one night too.

We went shopping a lot and found some fun things. By the end of the week, Jacoby was pretty sick of it. Dangit!

Ice cream from Ikea. They had a little play area for Jacoby so we were able to really roam around Ikea and take our sweet time while Jacoby had a blast.

We had a yummy lunch at Olive Garden and pigged out.

I am so grateful my family was able to come visit for a week. I feel so blessed to have been born into this wonderful family. I love them all and miss seeing them so often. I had such a great time shopping, eating good food, baking, working and projects, and watching movies. You guys are the best. I love you so much!

Idaho and 3 years old

We were so happy to go to Idaho for a couple weeks last month. It was a great time to escape Arizona’s heat from Heck and spend time with our families. One of the first things I did when we got there was walk outside and take off my shoes and walk in the grass. The grass is so soft in Idaho. Arizona only ever has crunchy, yellow grass. Ha ha. We were even able to celebrate Jacoby’s third birthday while we were home. I’m glad we could celebrate with all of his cousins! We did a little celebrating in Arizona. Jacoby was really excited to finally get a train track and some more trains.He loves puzzles and games right now so this puzzle has been fun for him to put together. We celebrated with the Long’s the night before his birthday. We did a train party. Olivia helped me with the cute freight cars. Jacoby got so many nice presents from his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Thank you!

This picture is pretty blurry but I thought it was so funny because Eden looked like she was telling Jacoby something pretty important. Maybe some sneaky plan she had.

Cupcakes at Grandma and Grandpa Roe’s. Jacoby had a great couple days and loved all the cupcakes and presents he received. One really fun thing I was able to do while we were home is go to the temple with all my siblings and parents. I sure love all of them and was happy we could all do this together. Thanks for planning that, Mom!

Tyler and his family were able to float the Hoback a couple times, too. They were so nice to invite Annie and my parents to go. They loved it. Jacoby and I got some fun pictures of them going through some huge rapids.

The kids loved to play in Grandpa Mike’s garden. They helped themselves to peas and carrots. One day when Becca’s family came over, Jacoby wasn’t wearing a shirt and neither was Trey so Johnny took his right off so he could be just like them. I had to get some pictures of the studs. Trey and Johnny are showing their big muscles.

We had a lot of things we wanted to do and because we split our time with out families we had to make a schedule of everything we wanted to do. My dad gave me a hard time that he had to ask me to go to the bathroom because of my schedule. We went to Reed’s Dairy a couple times, did famly pictures with both families, bike rides, yummy fresh raspberry milkshakes, Love at First Bite cupcakes, my good friend, Jason’s wedding, camping at Rigby Lake, bbq with my dad’s amazing French fries, volleyball, Portrayal, snow cones, Leo’s a couple times, Rexburg Rapids, ramekin round-up, boating, staying at the Parry cabin, Pinterest party, pedicures, Eden’s 4th birthday party, croquet, Olive Garden Dinner, seeing Lyndsi and Maecie, visiting Jess at her school, and my birthday party. My parents were so nice to ask me if I wanted to have a party for my birthday before we left. They asked what I wanted and I couldn’t help but request my mom’s peach cheesecake. It is the best. My dad made salmon and it was amazing. I feel so lucky and blessed for my wonderful family.

Unfortunately our trip had to come to an end, but we sure loved every minute of it. We were so happy that Tyler was able to come with us the whole time. Thanks to our families for everything and for putting up with all of the things I wanted to do.

Awhile back I did a post on some funny things Jacoby is doing. Here is a part II to that post and a scrapbook page I did of some of the pictures. He sure keeps us smiling! We love you, Jacoby and are so happy you are in our family.

He said his trains wanted some carrots, grapes, and Teddy Grahams.

He loves keys like most kids. I washed some keys for him and put some keychains on a ring so he felt like he had some real keys. Our locks are the really easy kind to unlock and he figured out that if he puts his key in and turns it, it will unlock. Pretty clever, huh?

what we’ve been doing this summer

We have had such an awesome summer mostly because Tyler has been able to spend so much time with us. He is working, but still has so much free time. Jacoby loves having him home to wrestle and play sports with. I know he will have a hard time when Tyler goes back in a month. I’m glad we have had so much fun!

For the Fourth of July we were really missing home. It was unbearably hot here but we still tried to make the most of one of my favorite holidays.The day went like this: breakfast with some of our good friends, going to Cars 2, going to dinner, playing games, and watching the fireworks. We had fun together, but nothing can top what we’re used to. We really missed our families!

Olivia was able to come stay a week with us. We loved having her here. I felt bad that the weather was so hot and miserable, but she seemed to not mind, except for the day I was dumb and decided we should go to the zoo. We did a lot of shopping and she found some cute school clothes. We also ate some good food: In-N-Out, Slurpees, Krispy Kreme Donuts, Dippin' Dots, and homemade Snickers. We went to the waterpark that is nearby two different days and spent some time at our pool. I’m so glad she was able to come and hope she will come again soon. It was fun to spend some one-on-one time with her. She was always so nice to help with Jacoby and read or play with him. Thanks for coming, Livi! We go home pretty soon and can’t wait to see our families! We miss you.

San Diego

We were so happy to have some visitors for a couple weeks. Taylor came to visit for a week and then Terry and Debie flew down to stay for another week. We stayed here for a couple days then headed over to San Diego. We have never really been on a trip as a family so we were pretty excited. The first afternoon we got there we went to Joe’s Crab Shack. I have always wanted to go there and it was yummy. The next day we went to Sea World. We had been telling Jacoby about Sea World for a long time and he was so anxious to go. I haven’t been since I was about six but I still remembered the shows. They were just as amazing as I remembered with these huge killer whales and dolphins jumping out of the water and splashing the audience. Jacoby was so good during the shows. The weather was perfect and a little overcast so we were able to stay all day and not get too worn out. Jacoby really liked the few rides and toys they had too. Taylor even got to swim with the dolphins and feed them and do a few tricks. It was really fun to watch. We got Jacoby a little killer whale animal to take home that I will have to post a picture of. It was fun because that is the same thing I got when I came to Sea World. Jacoby was just the right age to take him and we had a blast.

The next day we grabbed some donuts and went to the beach to eat breakfast. It was so beautiful. We didn’t wear our swimming suits because it was still pretty cold, but we splashed around in the water and found sea shells. Then we went to find the San Diego Temple. It was so beautiful; I have always wanted to see it. Later we went to the Braves game. Tyler has been wanting to go to one of their games for a long time. When they were playing here it happened to be finals week!! Are you kidding me? He felt pretty bad, so I’m glad we were able to come over to San Diego to watch them play. Taylor, Terry, Tyler, and I all went and Debie watched Jacoby at the hotel. It was a lot of fun and Tyler got us some sweet seats! Unfortunately they lost by quite a bit, but we still had a good time.

The next day we did a little shopping and made the drive home. We had such a good time with Tyler’s family. We are so happy to have people come visit so come on down everyone!!

Happy 4th of July! I’m really missing home right now. It is WAY too hot here for me!

Jacoby, you are funny

I have been wanting to do this post for a long time. It seems like I am constantly seeing Jacoby do some really funny things. I don’t want to forget all these silly things he does either. He is at such a fun age right now. He loves to line up his toys into shapes like circles and rectangles, sit in very relaxed positions, sleep in uncomfortable looking ways, put food on his trains to have them carry, and totally strip down when going to the bathroom and getting up on the counter to wash his hands and get a drink. I’m sure there will be a part 2 to this post.

School's Out

We're so excited that Tyler is done with his first year of medical school. He worked so hard and did SO well; I'm so proud of my smarty pants husband. We're really happy to be able to spend time with him this summer. Jacoby likes to ask Jacoby each day when he gets home if he has to go to school tonight and now Tyler gets to say no. They have been having lots of fun together.
Tyler, you shouldn't have done that, the sun didn't give you the tan you were hoping for. :) He got fried! I guess when you don't really see the sun at all for nine months, this is what happens.

Jacoby tackled Tyler right when he walked in the door the last day of school. He had balloons waiting for him!

We went to dinner that night with all our friends. The day before, us girls got together to decorate cupcakes. The banner says "Congrats" and "One Down" on the other side. The boys were pretty surprised when they brought them out at the restaurant.

Another big reason we were able to go home last month is for Savannah and Austin's wedding. Savannah looked so pretty and the reception was so awesome. I love this picture!

Savannah wasn't very thrilled about having her reception at a church, but man it looked great. They did such a great job decorating it that it was easy to forget we were at a church.

We were so happy to be able to be there for the wedding. Tyler was only in Idaho for about 30 hours, but I'm just glad he could be there. We are really happy to have Austin in the family and are so excited for them!

Jacoby is really into trains right now and plays with them constantly. Unfortunately for Tyler and I, he loves Thomas the Train, and it is the only show he ever wants to watch. It's kind of a creepy show because the trains mouths don't move and there is just a narrator speaking for them. Oh well, we still like Jacoby anyway. :) I bought him the hat he is wearing awhile back and just loved it; he looks so darling when he wears it. I told him it was a "conductor's hat" so he would want to wear it and it works. When we were in Idaho, I had my mom take some pictures of him down by some train tracks. He was talking in a lot of them and reciting lines from his favorite train books, but she still got some great ones. I sure love this kid!

I've been telling people that I think that missionaries getting home is one of the most exciting things in a lifetime. The most exciting things in life to me are these, in order: Jacoby being born, Thomas getting home from his mission, and getting married. :) Some people were teasing me about it, but Tyler said the most exciting thing in his life was going to Turner Field, so at least mine are family oriented. Leave me alone. The morning Thomas got home was so exciting. We could hardly stand it.

We had such a good time in Idaho and did SO many fun things. It was so great to be with Thomas and around all my family. It was really sweet to see Thomas with Jacoby and the other grandkids. He is so much the same to me and still has his funny personality, but he is an even better person. I love him and am so proud of him. He was such a good example to all of us. Some days scrapbooking really helps me to feel better. Today I'm feeling extra grateful for my little Jacoby. He is such a good boy, handsome, and so fun to be around. I'm so grateful to be his mom or his Missy, as he likes to call me. I love these pictures of Jacoby and Tyler's dad taken during Thanksgiving. Terry is so sweet with Jacoby and I love how he calls him "little man."

My friend Lisa and I took the kids to Tangled the other day. It was a cute show; I want to see it again. These two wouldn't sit in their seats too well, but we still had fun. We went to the fire station for a playgroup a long time ago and I finally scrapbooked it. Jacoby loves firetrucks. Some Easter cookies that I saw online. No bakes made into a nest and then make a little well for the eggs to go in. I liked using the Cadbury chocolate eggs because they are the best and they cracked a little bit because the cookie was warm. They are hatching. :)

We went to get Jambas last weekend. We will be heading here a lot more in a month or so. The summer is starting down here already. :(

I just love this hat. Jacoby is really into trains right now and I told him it's a conductor hat. He is a lot better about wearing it now.

We went home to Idaho a couple weeks ago and had the BEST time. Jacoby did get sick a couple times, but we still had a blast. Thanks to our families for everything. We went to Olivia's cheer competition in Boise with my parents and Annie. This is what Jacoby did during the competition.

I made these goldfish rainbows for Eden and Jacoby to play with. You line up the colored goldfish on the right colors of the rainbow. I'm working on a quiet book for Jacoby, and this will be in it.

Tyler had a week off in February so we had a great time being together all day long. We went to the zoo, the children's museum, out to dinner, and did some shopping. We loved having him around.

I'm a big kid now. Yes, we have been potty-training Jacoby. He is doing pretty well. It's so nice to say good-bye to diapers.

We already knew he had zero bum, but without a diaper it is basically non-existent. We're proud of him that he's doing so well.

Valentine's Ideas

There are such fun Valentine's Day ideas out there. I see so many things I want to make. We have had some Valentine's parties this week with Jacoby's preschool and our ward's playgroup.
One of my friends and I are in charge of playgroup in our ward, so this week we did a combined playgroup with another ward and had a Valentine's party. For one of the activities, I got the stuff for us to do these candy airplanes. They're such a cute idea and Jacoby loved playing with it before he ate it. I found the idea here.

I love peanut butter cookies and these are fun to make with Reese's hearts for a change. I got this yummy recipe from a cookbook Savannah made me with a bunch of family recipes. Find the recipe here.

For Jacoby's preschool party they exchanged Valentine's and we did these stegosaurus cards.

One of my favorite food blogs, had this fun recipe for red velvet whoopie pies that I had to try.

Steph and Eden Come to Visit

Wow, I have a lot to post about! Steph and Eden came to visit for awhile and we had lots of fun! Here is what we did starting with the most recent:
Went to visit my cousin Nicole in Prescott. Met my grandparents there and they took us to lunch. It was really fun to Nicole's house. It looks great! We went to Costco to get some dried mangoes. They are the best. Steph is awesome to have as a guest. She is so easy to have around and is so nice. She got all kinds of treats for us. I love her and am so lucky to have her as my sister.

We made strawberry sundae cupcakes. Strawberry cake for the strawberry ice cream, chocolate ganache for the chocolate syrup, frosting for the whipped cream, sprinkles, gumball for the cherry, and a short little straw. We saw them on Bakerella and loved the idea.

We went to Sprinkles Cupcakes.

We made some peanut butter macarons. They are really yummy. Steph and I both love to bake so it was fun to make some treats together.

We went to the children's museum and it was AWESOME! I think I liked it as much as the kids. So many fun things to do with the kids. I'm going to get a season pass this summer when it's hotter than heck here.

The "Ballroom" was really fun too.

This is hard to explain, but it's a bunch of tubes that are like a vacuum and you put scarves inside and they pull them through the tubes and they shoot out the top.

After the museum we went to Sprinkles Cupcakes, Oreganos Pizza Bistro(to die for), and Fashion Square Mall. This might have been my favorite day!

The kids did a little shopping at Trader Joes. This store is great.

We went shopping at an outlet mall nearby and afterword went to this park. It has a train that goes through the park and the most amazing toys. The kids loved it.

Chug-a-chug-a-choo-choo

We went to the zoo another day. The kids loved seeing all the animals and riding on the carousel.

He was being a pansy for a minute. :)

Steph took us to In-N-Out. Oh yeah, one of my favorites. Jacoby, why don't you have a little hamburger with your ketchup.

Feeding the giraffes at the zoo was pretty cool. The kids held out some lettuce and they grabbed it with their giant tongues. Gross.

This was so bizarre to me. They asked Steph to hold out this nugget in her finger tips to feed them. She actually did it!! Steph doesn't like animals and I thought she would just say no. After seeing her go through that I told them I didn't want to do that. Ha ha. Hilarious!

Watching movies together. We went to Tyler's school to pick oranges and lemons in the orchard behind Tyler's school. I have been wanting to go and it was really fun. So cool to have fruits like these hanging on trees here.

The weather was nice here for the first week and we went to the pool one day and sat on the beach while the kids played.

At Christmastime we lost a car that Grandma and Grandpa Long got for Jacoby so they got him a new one and sent it with Steph. He loves fire trucks.

When I saw these cars at Target the other day, I knew Jacoby would love them. Two of his favorite things put together: cars and Toy Story. Score. He loved them and so he bought them with his money from his great-great-grandparents for Christmas. What's even more perfect about the Woody and Buzz cars are they're Hot Wheels cars and he got some Hot Wheels car tracks from my grandma so they work great on them. I might even like them more than him. Hey, they're adorable.

I can't believe how long it's been since I've posted, but I'm not surprised. After Christmas I get a little down because I LOVE Christmastime so much. I'm so sad when it's all over. We had such a great time in Idaho for Christmas. It was nice having a white Christmas too; it wouldn't be the same without it. We're so grateful for our families; they are the best. We did so many fun things together and just enjoyed being all together again. We're grateful for all the nice gifts we received from everyone! This year has been fun to explain to Jacoby that Christmas is when Jesus was born. It's good time for me to think about the birth of thy son and recognize how blessed my life is because of Him.

Before Jacoby and I left for Idaho, Jacoby opened up some bigger presents that we couldn't haul there. He got this fun car track from my parents. This year Jacoby's presents were mainly cars and car tracks. He is obsessed.
The first night we got there we went to Taylor's basketball game in Rexburg and afterword we looked at Christmas lights. This is at the house by my parents' where the lights go with the music. Jacoby couldn't stop talking about Christmas lights.

My mom puts up at least five trees each year and they are each beautiful. One of my favorites is in her room and she has pretty frames with pictures of all of us in them.

She thought it would be fun to set up a tree to decorate with the grandkids. The big girls (what my dad calls Becca, Steph, and I) each came up with something to decorate it with and did the activity with the kids. For mine we did these fun snowmen ornaments with marshmallows inside. I found the idea online.

You crazy kids. Eden, that's what my hair looks like in the morning too. :)

Matchy pajamas. This is a funny story, Tyler's mom gave Jacoby these pajamas and Lonnie's mom gave Johnny the same ones. The first night we were at my parents' I put these on Jacoby and went down to find Johnny in the same pair.

I was super excited for us to give my dad this milkshake maker. My in-laws have one and love it and my dad loves to make milkshakes. I think he was pretty excited. My dad is always so nice about presents and always acts very grateful.

Tyler's parents' gave us a milkshake maker too. I was so surprised. We've already made milkshakes three times and are loving it.

gum advent calendar

I saw this fun idea on this blog that I just loved and couldn't wait to make them for my family and friends. It's a mini gum advent calendar. We started today, twelve days until Christmas. Jacoby and I go home Friday and I can hardly stand it. I haven't seen Becca's family in six months; I think that is ridiculous! I'm so excited for Christmastime and to spend time with our families and friends. One of the things I'm most looking forward to is talking to Thomas; it's so great to hear his voice. These two were for Tyler and Steph. Tyler's birthday is tomorrow so I put a little present on that day. Also, Steph's birthday is six days before Christmas.

My good friend Lisa just got a nice new camera and has been practicing taking pictures. She snapped a few of Jacoby that I thought turned out cute. It's hard to get him to stay still for very long, but I took some bubbles and that entertained him a little. Thanks, Lisa!

When I went home for Thanksgiving, I worked on some projects with my mom and sister. I had seen these notebooks on one of my favorite blogs, eighteen25, and wanted to do one. I didn't know it, but Steph had went and got all the stuff for all of us to make them and even one for her to make and send to Becca. Steph is really good about doing nice things like that. She is a very thoughtful person and always makes good treats for a party or gets stuff to do fun activities and projects. Thanks, Steph. These are really fun and I have used it a lot for all my Christmas planning. It's nice to have it all in one place and it even holds coupons and receipts, two things I always have. They were all a little different, but with coordinating papers.

If we hadn't gone home for Thanksgiving, it just wouldn't have been the same. We had such a good time and are so grateful for our wonderful families. We love you all!
On our way to Idaho. We already knew that Jacoby wasn't a good traveler, but both plane rides were more stressful than we thought they would be. I brought all kinds of snacks, new toys, movies, and stickers for him, but he just didn't like sitting in one place. Can you believe that a two-year-old wouldn't do that? After the flight, Jacoby was getting a kick out of the luggage popping up onto the track. He was laughing real hard. :)

I was lucky enough to be able to go to the Festival of Trees the last night it was open to see my family's trees; they looked awesome. It was sad to not have a tree in it this year, but still great to be able to go. Festival of trees really kicks off the holidays for me.

I've missed little Eden so much, it's been four months since I'd seen Steph's family. Way too long. She is growing up so much.

Love my sisters...but where is my Becca? Oh I wish I could've seen her this trip; I can't wait for Christmas!

Jacoby and Eden are always willing to hug and kiss each other.

When we first got to Idaho, we went to lunch with both of our families. When Eden walked in the restaurant, Jacoby saw her and they slowly walked up to each other and hugged for a really long time. It was real sweet.

I love my family and miss them everyday.

We had a really great Thanksgiving with both families. We kicked off the day by having lunch with my mom's side of the family. We had tasty food and played some fun games.

Later we went to Tyler's aunt and uncle's for another meal. Yum! It was so nice to see our families.

We left Friday morning, but I decided to wake up real early to do a little Christmas shopping with my family. My mother-in-law even made hot chocolate to go for me and all of my family who was going. She is a thoughtful lady. :)

We had a great time and can't wait to come home for Christmas!

Jacoby was even more of a stinker on the way home. It didn't help that the DVD player died after 45 minutes. He threw a few tantrums and kept laying in the aisle. I kept picking him up and setting him on his seat. Finally, he had his legs out in the aisle and was being good and I had had enough fighting with him. When I noticed the flight attendants looking back at us, they got on the intercom and said, "Keep your children in their seats and off of the floor. The floor is filthy. People are constantly getting on and off the plane and the floor is a very dirty place for them to be." By this point I was so overwhelmed and couldn't believe that they would go off about it. While I understand that it's not safe for kids to be on the ground instead of in their seats, I don't think it was necessary to give ME a lecture over the intercom. I would've appreciated them approaching me and kindly asking me to put my son in his seat.

Here's to hoping our next flight goes well and I hope so since it'll be without Tyler. :(

Here are more pictures of our apartment.
This is Jacoby's bathroom or our guest bathroom. It's going to be an owl bathroom. It still has a lot of work to do, but will have a lot of bright colors with brown. My mom and I did the owl specimen art in the shadow boxes when they came to visit. They were lots of fun. We found the cute owl punch at Michael's.

I made the little owls and had them printed as 4x6s and put them in this frame.

My mom made a couple of these for my little sisters' room, but when Olivia moved into another room(took over Thomas'), she said I could have one of them. I was thrilled because I'd been eying it and hinting at wanting it for awhile. I kinda talked about stealing it really. My sisters and I do that all the time about things of our mom's. I Modge Podged different paper over top and added sheets of metal that I had my Uncle Dave cut for me.

Here's Jacoby's room. It's so fun to finally have it done. It was so fun to do. I found some darling fabric that was a line from Riley Blake that I fell in love with and used throughout the entire room on different projects. I used it for the pennant banner, pillow sham, laundry basket liner, and toy basket liners. For the bedspread, I made a duvet cover out of a set of queen sized sheets. They were the perfect size for a twin duvet cover and hardly required any cutting. My mom helped me with so many of these projects! Debie made the awesome bed skirt. She used some heavier white fabric and added a thick strip of green grosgrain ribbon on the bottom.

The J is for Jacoby frame came from an idea I saw on the internet.

It's really fun to have a picture from highschool of Tyler playing baseball in Jacoby's room. I originally gave it to him for Christmas before Jacoby was born, but knew that it would be fun in Jacoby's room. Jacoby always points to it and says, "Daddy. Baseball. Mitt." I framed a scrapbook page of Jacoby's that I will switch out from time to time. The collection of J's was really fun. I started collecting them a long time ago, so it was fun to finally have enough to do what I wanted with them.

I loved the shelves like this that I'd seen in Pottery Barn and happened to find one for ten bucks at Downeast.

This is the papasan chair that my mom recovered. I didn't do much there, I was her assistant as she was sewing it with the chair attached. (Not an easy project)

So nice to finally have this dang bookshelf done. It was quite the project, but I think I'm just slow. We got the bookshelf from Tyler's parents. It was brown, so we sanded and repainted it white, took off the backing and added beadboard, and added crown molding to the top. Devan cut the molding for us and my dad attached it when they came to visit. Thank you guys, we couldn't have done it without ya. The molding just finishes it off. I had my aunt cut vinyl for the buckets and Debie embroidered the liners. I added a strip of fabric to the liners of the baskets.

This is Jacoby snuggling up with his quilt my mom made. Isn't it awesome? As you can see, she also used the same fabric I used throughout his room. She brought it to him when they visited and I was ecstatic. It turned out awesome, Mom!

Here's a better picture of the entire quilt. It's such a fun design. Jacoby loves it, he likes to go get it while he watches movies and says, "Janet, thank you." He doesn't ever say Grandma Janet, just Janet, not very respectful huh? :)

Well, there it is, the rest of our little apartment. It's feeling a little more like home now. Thanks to everyone who helped us with all of our projects; our families are both very talented.

coolest kicks for coby

I know that everyone says that shopping for girls is so much better than boys, but I've found some pretty adorable things for Jacoby, these awesome baseball shoes are at the top of the list. They are perfect for this kid. He wanted them on right when we got home from the store and he was ready to play some ball.

Tyler and I have always agreed about how to dress Jacoby and since I do most of the shopping, it's nice that I know he likes what a pick out. I think he thought I was pretty cool for finding these shoes too...a lot cooler than when I got Jacoby the gingham outfit he's wearing in the picture below. :) The only reason he looks like Kermit the frog is because he's squatting like a frog, it has nothing to do with the green gingham. Ha ha.

Well, I still like it!

Halloween

We had a fun Halloween this year. Jacoby was a little dog and I think he thought it was pretty fun. He was excited about trick-or-treating and all the candy. Now he keeps asking for "candy" and "chocolate". We went to a carnival at Tyler's school on Friday where Jacoby went around to the buildings on campus and did some trick-or-treating and then played on some blow-up toys and had some good snacks. It was fun to spend time with Tyler and we just loved taking Jacoby around to get treats; this year he was at a fun age for Halloween.
On Saturday we went to a trunk-or-treat at the church. I'd never been to one before, but they are great. It was nice to walk around the parking lot to all the cars and he got lots of candy (that I will be helping myself to) and it didn't take very long. It's so weird to be going trick-or-treating in shorts and t-shirts. What the? This is weird, but I like it!
Yesterday we had a little Halloween party with some of our friends. It wa fun to get together and do something on Halloween. We had lots of good treats and had fun playing games. I'm sure grateful to have the new friends I've made down here.
If you know me, you know that I LOVE treats of any kind. I ate way too many over the Halloween weekend and am so SICK of them. Ah! I need something healthy. I hope you all had a fun weekend!

Well I'm finally getting around to posting some pictures of our apartment. I am most excited about Jacoby's room, but I need to finish painting a bookshelf in there before I take pictures. I'm also posting my canvases for a project challenge on UCreate. That site is great and has so many fun ideas.
So here is our bedroom and family room for now. I like a lot of color; I always have.

It's fun to finally post pictures of my wall art that my dad put together. Red and robin-egg blue are one of my favorite color combos and were our wedding colors. Jacoby is constantly hitting wiffle balls off the trunk (like it's a tee) and playing catch with us, but I've been lucky enough to have nothing break so far. Knock on wood.

I've been looking for an entertainment center for a long time, but finally found one I loved that is just my style.

We decided to end at a nursing home that allowed the kids to trick or treat. The entire time we were there, old people kept grabbing me and asking me if I would take them back to their rooms... I had to keep explaining that I didnt work there. It was pretty funny.

We went to the fire station this week for play group. Jacoby just loves fire trucks right now and was really excited to see a 'big truck.' He was a little confused that it wasn't red, but I just kept telling him it was a yellow fire truck. It was pretty fun!

halloween decorations and a little giveaway

I love looking at crafting blogs and one of my favorites, eighteen25, had a spooktacular celebration of Halloween ideas. There were so many fun ideas. I was telling my mom about them and since I hardly had any Halloween decor, we talked to Becca and Steph, and we each made a Halloween decoration and did one for everyone. It was a lot of fun and everyone's stuff was awesome. Thanks to my wonderful Mom and sisters. Love you guys!

I made these candycorn wreaths. They are a lot of fun to do. The idea comes from the Women's Day magazine. I really like how it looks with the black and white polka dot ribbon. The only complaint I have is that it said to preserve it you could brush Modge Podge all over it, so I did this and it was a disaster. It made the color on the candycorns drip off and look runny and gross. I was so frustrated that they would suggest this when obviously they didn't try it before printing it in the magazine. I ended up redoing that wreath. :( I got together with some of my friends from here and did these. Brooke did one and since I was sending two home with my mom for her and Steph, Brooke said that I could have hers and she would make another one. That was very nice and thoughtful of her. Brooke and I got together a couple days ago and made some more.
My mom made these fun, colorful runners. I love the colors and textures, it looks just like Halloween.

My mom made these fun subway art frames. I really like how it's not like the normal subway art, but with the fun cursive over top. She is so creative and talented.

Steph did these fun plates. I couldn't believe how awesome they looked with the white vinyl against the black plates. I think it was a little bit of a pain for her, but they turned out really nice.

Becca made the fun garland. I really love the colors she chose. Now I want one of these for every holiday, you up for it Bec? Gee, thanks. :)

My mom went all out for this challenge and did these fun vinyl bats we'd seen on a blog. She had a bunch cut for all of us so that we could have more for next year. They're very fun.

I Love Visitors!

Wow, I had such a great time while my family was here. I guess I didn't realize how lonely I was down here without family and it really hit me after they left. It just didn't last long enough, but we sure had a great time.

My family is so great and are so thoughtful of others and of me and made me feel so special. I really appreciate everything they do. We did lots of fun things while they were here, but also got to hang out a lot and just talk and be together. I really miss having my family so close because it's such a comfort knowing they are close by if you need anything.

This picture should be at the bottom, it's some treats I sent home with them. I also did one of these when Tyler's family came last month. I'm sure you've all seen these before, but they're fun to do. I personalized the labels to say different things such as: thanks for coming, we love you and miss you, you're the best, drive safe, don't forget us, and come back soon. I did them with Halloween paper and covered the carrier with a paper bag. My dad likes sunflower seeds, so those were special for him. It's always nice to have lots of treats while driving, especially on a fourteen hour drive.

Jacoby and I went to meet my family at the entrance as they pulled up because I could hardly stand it and he was so excited and confused that they were here. He grabbed their hands and starting leading the way to our apartment.

My parents got Jacoby this Phoenix Sun's Build-A-Bear dog. He sure loves it.

We went the the zoo in Phoenix. It was pretty hot still, but it's a pretty awesome zoo.

We went to a yummy pizza place that Guy Fieri featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives."

We spent a lot of time at our pool playing games and watching Jacoby swim.

We ate lots of food like these banana pancakes.

Some of the things we did while they were here were: went swimming, went to the zoo, shopped at our mall, went to Jamba, ate at the pizza place, played some games, went to Krispy Kreme, at at In-n-Out, worked on projects, had a picnic at a park, and went to church. My dad also put some crown molding on a bookshelf in Jacoby's room. Devan cut it for us, thanks Devan. I'll post pictures of it soon. My mom made a quilt for Jacoby and it matches his room so well. I can't wait to post some pictures. I hope everyone had fun because we sure did.

This was right before church on the day they were leaving. I think we were all starting to feel sad. These two are so cute together.

We didn't really like saying goodbye, I'm not afraid to say that I really miss my family and that they are my best friends. I can't wait for you all to come back. See ya in a month!

the countdown begins

I don't know that we've been up to anything too exciting, but here's a little update.
I have always thought it was hilarious when kids fall asleep in their high-chair while eating, but Jacoby has never done it. The other day, he wouldn't lay down for his nap and so I got him some toast and went in the other room for a minute. I didn't hear him chattering after awhile and came out to this. I had to grab the camera. :) He looked so handsome in his little outfit that I had to get a picture.

Jacoby is the WORST shopper of all time and hates sitting in the cart or stroller, doesn't stay by me, and runs away. Well on this trip to the grocery store, I made him use his monkey backpack/leash and I bribed him with this huge sucker. He was thrilled and was a lot better than normal. It was a huge mess, but I don't even care. By the way, I don't know why people think leashes are a bad thing, please forgive me for trying to be a good Mom and take care of my kid. Grr...

I was so thrilled that Katelyn's husband had an interview at Midwestern. It was great to spend a little bit of time with her. I'm really hoping that Doug gets in so they can move by us. Jacoby and Krew had fun together swimming and playing on the toys at the mall. I love Kate and miss her lots. She even colored my hair while she was here; she does such a good job. Thanks for coming to see us! Oh, Katelyn agrees that Jacoby is a bad shopper and a very busy boy. Dang! Ha ha.

Jacoby had is two-year check-up the other day and it was a real nightmare. It was a new doctor's office, but I think he quickly realized what was going on and his memories of the awful stitches came back. They could hardly even do anything. I felt bad for him because he's been through a lot at the doctor's office already. We ended up going to get him Red at the Disney Store afterword. I think he's his favorite car yet.

He is loving cars right now and loves to line them up in a row.

Tyler had his white coat ceremony on Friday. We're really proud of him and how hard he works. He's doing really well, but that's not a surprise.

The countdown has definitely begun, my family is coming to see us in 4 days. It's been almost three months since I've seen them. I miss them so much. I'm really glad that we have Skype and can see each other and talk on there, but I usually start crying after I talk to them or while I'm talking to them. They really are the best. Can't wait to see you guys!

For the last year of so Jacoby has just had his binky when he is sleeping, but the other day he didn't want to brush his teeth, so I told him he didn't get his binky. I decided we were getting rid of it right then. That night was pretty sad and he was screaming in his room saying, "Please Mommy, bo!" (binky) I almost wanted to give it to him because he was asking so politely, but I was too determined to get rid of it. Things are going really great now and I'm glad we've moved on. I was always really nervous to do it because he was so attached to it when he slept, but he got over it. We kept telling him he was such a big boy and we went a got him a book for getting rid of it. Good job, Jacoby!

Yesterday morning Jacoby came up to me and said, "Bye bye Mommy!" He had his play keys and Taylor's old cell phone in his hand all ready to go bye bye. He even tried to unlock the door with his keys.

I made these banana pancakes yesterday and they were really yummy. Try 'em!

I got these shoes not too long ago, but wasn't a fan of the rhinestone on them and thought maybe I could just pluck them off, but they didn't look very good after that and had little holes. I thought it would be really fun to glue white buttons all over instead. I had my mother-in-law pick up some buttons for me in Idaho Falls before they came to visit. I hot glued them on and while I was doing the second one, I looked at the other shoe so they would be pretty similar. I like them a lot better now.

I have been slacking on the blog posts, but here's a little update.
Just a cute picture of Jacoby yesterday after we cleaned the church. He was a good boy while we were cleaning and just followed Tyler around while he emptied all the garbages and me while I vacuumed. He brought his big train toy and pushed it all over the place. He was thirsty and so we got a drink for us to share. He wasn't very interested in sharing though. Tyler's family came to visit this past weekend and we had a great time. They are so good to us and do so many nice, thoughtful things for us and we really appreciate it. When they first got here, Savannah surprised me with a little box containing TWO Cocoa Bean cupcakes. I pretty much love her. We shopped a lot and found a really great mall, went swimming, ate a lot, and went to a Diamondbacks baseball game. We know it's a long drive from Idaho, but we're so glad they came to see us. It's so fun having visitors.
Savannah and Taylor stayed with us and took turns sleeping in the trundle next to Jacoby's bed. I thought they were pretty sweet and had to get a picture.

At the baseball game, Jacoby liked to climb up on this baseball and jump off. Sometimes he is too brave.

These next few pictures have some really scary red eyes I can't get rid of, but other than that, it's a great shot of the family.

On the way to the game we were driving on a road called Thomas, so I wanted a picture. I would've liked to get out and get in the picture, but we were at a stop light. By the way, Thomas is doing really well and working harder than ever. It makes the time go by so much faster knowing that he is so happy where he is. He is a great example to me and I love and miss him so much.

Thank you everyone for the kind birthday wishes on my birthday last week. It's nice to know that I haven't been forgotten about even if we moved so far away. My family made it a wonderful day even from afar. I was able to Skype with my mom and sisters, talk to my friends, grandmas, aunts, dad, sisters, and so many others. It really means a lot and I love ya all! Jacoby and I went shopping for a little while and got some ice cream. Later I went to Famous Dave's with Tyler while my wonderful friend Brooke watched Jacoby. (It's been great to have a friend down here in Arizona that I already know.) The food there was great!

I received so many nice gifts on my birthday: orange plates, clothes, jewelry, cake plate, sprinkles holder, frosting tips, money, gift cards, movie, decorations, and chairs for our table. Thank you everyone. :)

I love this holder that Steph gave me. She also gave me an awesome set of frosting tips I've had on my wish list for a long time. Now I can make pretty cupcakes, but definitely won't be as awesome as her cupcakes.

Awhile back I talked about doing some posts on some projects I've been working on. This is the first project I'm going to post about.
I bought these canisters right after we go married. They are the largest size of glass canisters at Walmart. I have always really like them and the convenience of having them out on my counter. I use these two ingredients so often that it is a real time saver to have them right there, where I work, and right next to my Kitchen Aid. For the longest time I've been trying to think of a way to label them with flour and sugar. I didn't want to do vinyl, but I wanted to do something. I mentioned it to Steph and she said she wanted to use glass etching on them. I realized that was perfect, so thanks Steph. (We have the same taste on a lot of things.) You can pick up the glass etching at a craft store, but be sure to bring in a coupon, because even the baby bottle was a little pricey without a coupon. Cut our vinyl in the word you want to use, place it on your glass, and follow instructions on the glass etching package. It's really easy and I love it.

My aunt Deanna, who cut the vinyl for me, had a Pyrex dish with her last name on it. I decided to do a couple for my cake pans. I thought I would just do Roe, but it was just too small so I added family. Who ever thought that my last name would get shorter, from Long to Roe. :)

TWO

Wow, Jacoby is two now! That is definitely crazy to me. He is such a fun boy and so full of energy. We are having such a fun time hanging out together all day while Tyler goes to school and studies all the time. Jacoby loves when Tyler gets home and pretty much wants nothing to do with me after that. Oh well, then I get to escape and blog for a little bit.

I wanted to document a little about what Jacoby is doing at two:

-Really into movies, but Cars and Toy Story are his favorites. He brings me movies all the time wanting to watch them, and throws a fit when I won't let him watch movies all day. Weird that I wouldn't allow that huh?

-Loves playing with cars now, finally. He was always so interested in basketball and baseball and never showed any interest in playing with cars. He especially loves playing with his cars from the movie Cars that we got him last Christmas. Finally they're getting used. :)

-Loves popsicles and would eat ten daily if he could, but I don't let him. I don't know why I'm surprised that he has such a sweet tooth; he gets that from me because I have a major addiction and didn't cut back when I was pregnant with him. I ate healthy besides that though. :)

-He is sleeping in a twin bed and doing okay. Hopefully it gets better soon, but right now he wakes up in the middle of the night and I usually end up sleeping in his tiny bed with him.

-Saying quite a few words and a few short sentences, here's the list: snack, drink, car, ball, basketball, book, bye bye, hi Mommy, Daddy, I want Annie, Mattie, bubbles, fish, stop it, duck, quack quack, bike, I want some more please, thank you mommy, Johnny, Eden, milk, dog, cat, cow, moo, rabbit, I don't want it, Janet, it's hot, monkey, blanket, no, yeah, please, thank you, love you, mitt, bat, bear, basketball hoop, and probably a few more.

On Saturday I wanted to do a few fun things with him for his birthday since we wouldn't be able to do as much on Sunday, so I took him to a splash pad. He loved it and ran around screaming. We had a little picnic after that.

Later we went to Toy Story 3 together; it was a great show. Jacoby liked it a lot. Go see it!

After church yesterday, we had calzones, which are his favorite.

I made him Elmo cupcakes that he was pretty excited about. They're not professional looking at all, but they were fun for Jacoby. I have been teaching him to blow out candles so he would be ready on his birthday, and he blew it out quick. Love this face

Jacoby had a lot of fun and was sure spoiled by his grandparents, cousins, and aunts and uncles. A few more things he got were: beach toys, Cars Magnadoodle, clothes, Cars book, crayon roll, basketball and football, and lacing toy. Thanks everyone, you are all great.

Happy birthday, Jacoby. We love you and are so happy to have your in our family. You make us so happy bud!

first day

We've had a lot of fun going to the pool just about every day. Jacoby loves to swim with his water wings on and play in the sand. We love taking this wagon my parents gave him to the pool because it has enough room for all our crap and I doesn't matter if he's wet. We're having fun in Arizona, but we miss everyone; I don't think that will ever change.
I really love my ward down here and am so grateful for all the friendly and outgoing people who've made me feel so welcome. It's been very hard for me to adjust to being away from home, but they have made it easier. Our relief society has tons of activities throughout the week like cooking groups, craft groups, play groups, book clubs, and even more stuff to keep all the students' wives busy. Tyler and Jacoby on his first day of medical school. I asked for a picture before he left and he said only if Jacoby could be in it. It'll be fun to take one every year of the two of them together and see how much they change. :) Tyler is such a hard worker and will do great in school. I know that it's going to be a lot of work, but it will be worth it.

I've been keeping busy and sane by working on little projects here and there. I've decided I'm going to do a series of posts of projects I've been working on, so I should be posting one pretty soon.

At first I asked if we could lean out and kiss because I'd seen that on an announcement, but he wasn't interested in that idea. Grr. Finally, on our anniversary a couple weeks ago I asked him if we could take pictures in the cars, but just holding hands. He agreed. Score. I really love them and plan to blow one up real big for our house.

we made it

Well we made it to Arizona last Friday, so it's been a week since we've been down here. The drive was super long and boring, but we did have some books on CD to listen to that took our minds off of the long drive. Tyler and his dad left Thursday night with the trailer and drove about halfway and slept for a few hours, got up Friday morning and drove the rest of the way. I came with Savannah and Debie Friday morning and we got there around 8:00 p.m. By the time we got there Tyler and Terry had unloaded the entire trailer and it was way hot. One of our neighbors helped them too, which we really appreciate. We were able to unpack pretty much everything on Saturday so that we could have things ready for when Jacoby got here on Sunday afternoon...on a plane. That lucky duck. Tyler's cousin works at the airport and so his family can fly free and since Jacoby is under two he got to fly with her. It was really hard to not have him there with us, but it really did work on perfect. My family got to babysit Jacoby for a few days and we didn't have to worry about driving that far with him. (He's a real punk on long car rides.) We really appreciate it, Tammi!
It was great to have Tyler's family with us for a few days and help us get settled. We had a lot of fun together and they were a real help.
It's been fun to get settled in our apartment and to finally be able to hang up things. I have had several projects ready for our new place and it's so fun to finally be able to see them put up. I will have to post pictures soon.

Jacoby is now sleeping in a twin bed. It's going pretty well so far. Sometimes he tries to come out and I just have to put him back in bed kicking and screaming. Oh well. I can't believe he's old enough to be in that big bed. My little boy will be two in a few weeks. Wow!

I have never understood people who move away from their family and seem to be just fine, and I still don't. Saying goodbye to my family was one of the hardest things I've ever done. I love them so much and they are my best friends. This has been a really emotional week for me, but I know it will get better. Arizona is a great place and I'm excited to be here. I know I can count on visitors, especially in the winter months. I miss you Idaho; you are the best.

We had such a fun time on the on the 4th(3rd) of July this year. We loved spending time with our families and all the traditions that come with it. It was a real bummer not having Becca's family there this year; we miss them so much. We didn't go to the parade because we don't really like it and it was cold, but I do wish I could've watch Olivia in it. We had our famous (to me) picnic with my mom's famiy which included all the best, most unhealthy food possible: homemade fries, rootbear, donuts, some fun fruit kabobs Steph and I made, and other good treats. I made myself sick. We also went to the Chukar's game before the fireworks. It was fun to do something different, especially since it was too cold to float the canal this year. After the game, we walked down to the river to watch the fireworks with Tyler's fam. I love the 4th of July!

Well the countdown has begun and it's a very bittersweet one. We have less than three weeks until we'll be down in Arizona. We're really excited, but really sad too. We're going to miss Idaho and all our family so much. We both love doing things with both of our families. I'm glad that Tyler is so happy and willing to spend time with my family and that I like being with his family too.

We've been busy working on some projects for our new apartment. These are things I've been wanting to get done for a long time. It's been great to have Tyler be able to help me. I will post pictures of everything when we move. When we get there, we're going to put Jacoby in a bed and so my mom helped me make a duvet cover for his new bed and Tyler painted his bed for him. We have been working on a bookshelf for him and need to paint it and do a few things to it still. I'm really excited about it because I have all the stuff to put in it already like baskets and pails. We also painted a rocking chair pear green; I love it.
I'm pretty excited to be able to decorate our apartment since I haven't been able to do much of that at this house we're renting.

Jacoby loves baseball now too. He likes to take his mitt and ball to Tyler's softball games. Also, he brings me his mitt and wants me to play catch with him. I'm pretty sure he would do it all day if I didn't quit, but I guess I'm not that nice of a mom.
I found a frame that was a 10x10 that I painted to go in Jacoby's room. I'm going to put a scapbook page in it and occasionally switch it out.

reunion fun

We had a jam-packed week and it was great. These pictures are out of order, so they're starting with the most recent...oh well.

My handsome little boy. I love this outfit! Steph and I took Eden and Jacoby to the park and they were nice enough to let me take a few pictures of their darling faces.
Jacoby is going to miss all his cousins when he moves away.

I planned a little reunion with my family last weekend and it was so fun to spend time with them. Becca's family is getting ready to move and my family will be moving in a month. I love my family. We are so close. it's going to be terribly hard to be away from them. Anyway, the weather wasn't very nice on Saturday so we just went swimming at the Aquatic Center and came back to my parent's for dinner and a sleepover. After church the next day we had lunch and spent the afternoon playing croquet(my favorite sport. Ha ha.), volleyball, and crying as we said good bye to Becca's family. I hate when people leave, first Thomas, Becca's family, and now my family soon. I don't know how people do this, we have been so spoiled thus far, but we will make the best out of it; that's what my mom keeps saying, but she's also the most optimistic person around.

We also had a family reunion with Tyler's extended family at Lagoon. It's always fun to see everyone there. It was super, super cold this year, but we still had fun. I'm glad I packed Jacoby's coat though. Jacoby didn't like the rides one little bit, even the ones we could ride with him. He was crying pretty hard, so we only made him go on a few. :) Maybe in another year.

He was content until the ride started. :)

baseball and things

Tyler was able to play in a couple Hillcrest alumni baseball games. It was really fun to watch him play since he loves baseball so much and I was never able to watch him play in highschool. He even pitched and I loved watching that. It was fun to see him with all his old buddies. He said he's pretty sore today though. :) I've been wanting to make these fabric flowers I saw here, but have been searching high and low for the perfect, cheap vase. I finally found it at D.I. I love this line of fabric by Riley Blake and searched several fabric stores to find this pattern in every color so that it would match our room. I'm a little obsessed with this fabric, eh? I also used to for three basket liners in Jacoby's room in orange, turqoise, and green, and I'm going to make some bunting for his room with my scraps too.

These are better than real flowers. I originally had them on Tyler's nightstand and he sarcastically said, "Those are just what I wanted on my side." I decided to move them to my side because I would definitely appreciate them. :)

I wanted to share a couple of my favorite new recipes I've discovered. This lemon cream pie is awesome. It's very fresh and summery and light and oh so tasty. I made it Wednesday and already want to make it again.

These ribs are so moist and tender and have such a great, classic flavor. Tyler really liked them.

My good buddy Lyndsi came over last week to have me help her make an invitation for her sister-in-law's bridal shower. It was so fun to see her and her little girl, Maecie. Jacoby was pretty sweet with her and just loved looking at her and saying, "Baby." He looked so huge next to her. Lyndsi always has her dressed so cute. Little girls are so fun.

Jacoby has loved going on bike rides around our neighborhood, but I wish the weather would cooperate so we could get out more. Come on summer, where the H are you?

Well I had a special request by Tyler's Aunt Rozie to update our blog, and I was happy to do it. It's always nice to know people read your blog, even if they don't leave any comments. :) I admit I'm guilty of that too, I enjoy reading other blogs, but sometimes don't get around to leaving a comment.

Just some pictures I snapped of Jacoby as he was running away from me because I had my camera out. Jacoby, you are handsome. My dad got the grandkids a little four-wheeler that they've been having a ball on. It doesn't go very fast, which is perfect for them. Johnny can even ride it by himself. Ha ha. That's funny to watch because he seems way too small to be able to ride it.

Jacoby has never really been interested in any shows or movies, but we finally found a winner. Naturally it has a ball and dog in it so he loves it. Sandlot. Now, isn't that movie a classic? I sure love it; it was always a favorite at my house. He will seriously watch the whole thing without making a peep and doesn't even move a muscle. It has been nice to turn it on while I make dinner or clean the house. He has started to do some really funny things that he's learned from the movie like sliding, like he's sliding onto a base, tapping his bat on the ground before he hits it, and hitting the ball off the tee and taking off like he's running to a base. He's a very observant boy and it makes me smile to watch him discover things. I have realized that there are some not so good things on Sandlot that I hope he won't start quoting such as: scab eater, butt sniffer, pus licker, fart smeller. Ha ha.

Jacoby needed a haircut the other day so we just turned Sandlot on with his personal DVD player and it was a real breeze, quite the opposite of how it usually is. Funny kid.

Room Redo

Well I'm really excited to finally have our room the way I want it. I've been spending a lot of time searching for certain things and trying to find great deals. I spent hardly any money on these projects and it was really fun. I picked up the canvases at Michael's quite awhile ago when they were having a great sale and hadn't been able to figure out what I wanted to do with them. I searched tons of blogs trying to find ideas and finally found a blog home show where a lady did a damask design on a wall hanging. Not sure why I didn't think of that before since our bedspread is damask. :) I ended up painting them all the different colors I wanted in our room and had my Aunt Deanna cut out the damask design in vinyl. I just got it finished up yesterday and wanted to hang it up so bad, but we aren't hanging up anything at this house because it's for sale so I used blue tack; it worked like a charm.
I picked up the orange pillow at Target, but added the polka dots with felt. The green pillow I got at Ross and I added the ruffle with leftover fabric from Jacoby's chair my mom and I recovered. For the third pillow I had such a hard time figuring out what I wanted to do, but I finally decided to use some robin-egg blue ric rac I had and make that pillow.
I wanted to add little bits robin-egg blue, orange, red, and green throughout the room, so I wound up my earring yarn into balls and picked up the green alarm clock and orange lantern. There are still a few things I'm planning to do, but I'm finally happy with my room for once. This definitely proves that you redecorate a room for hardly anything.

Mother's Day

I'm usually not this horrible about updating our blog, but I just haven't been feelin' it lately, but I'm hoping to post more regularly now.

So I had a wonderful Mother's Day, but the highlight of my day was talking to Thomas. It was so great to hear his voice, he's still very sarcastic and funny. He's doing great and I'm so proud of him. I love him so much.

The guys all helped make dinner and we had dutch oven food which is always awesome. My dad cooks some pretty great chicken and potatoes, but I think my Grandpa Cliff still has him beat. :) His were always so good.

Anyway, Tyler spoiled me this year and got me something I've been dying to have: a quilting mat, ruler, and a rotary cutter; I was super excited. Before he went shopping he asked me for five ideas so that I would still be surprised; I liked that game. I've already used it so much this week.

It was great to spend time with my mom on Mother's Day. I love her so much. She has always been such a great role model for me. One of her greatest qualities is her ability to ALWAYS give people the benefit of the doubt. She is always saying kind things about others, and I can only count on one hand people like that. I love her for that because she's really stressed that in our lives and I rarely even notice negative things about others. She's a beautiful woman and so very talented. I love you, Mom!

We also got to spend time with Tyler's mom on Mother's Day. She's a great woman and we love her!

Jacoby has been loving this nice weather we've been having. Dang it, it's about time!

He loves going on bike rides with mom, but hates the helmet. Tough, kid. I've loved having a neighborhood to ride bikes in. It's lots better than Rexburg with all the hills because man I'm not in good enough shape to plow up those.

one year, baby

Well it's been awhile since I posted, but nothing too exciting has been going on...except for THOMAS HAS BEEN OUT FOR ONE YEAR YESTERDAY! I'm so excited to get to this point. Wow. In a lot of ways it's gone by fast, but only because his letters are so awesome and he is loving his mission. I think that makes it so much easier for your family when they know you are happy and love what you are doing. It has been really hard though because I know that in a year when Thomas comes home, we won't be living there. It's hard to think about that. You bet I'll be there at the airport to see him though, but I will miss out on being around him a lot.
He has been such a great example to me this past year. I'm so grateful for the sacrifices he is making. I know it's not easy, but it's worth it. I love him so much.
This is quite an ugly picture of me, but I didn't get ready that morning he left, instead I followed him around and watched him. It was a really emotional morning for all of us; wow, that was a really hard day. I love my family, and I'm so grateful that we are close and have so much in common. We have our parents to thank because they are the best. I love you, Tom! Keep up the hard work! Recently my mom helped me recover this papasan chair for Jacoby's room. It was really fun to do, and I'm really glad my mom was so willing to help me. She has great taste, and I hope to have a beautiful home like them someday, but I know I'm not as good as she is. I definitely am really interested in decorating right now and look for ideas all the time. I will have to post pictures once we move and can hang things up on the wall because the house we're renting right now is for sale so we don't hang anything.
Jacoby has really liked this chair so far. I found him "reading" books in it the other day all by himself. He looked like such a big boy. I love being able to read him books in there before he goes to bed.

Easter

We had a great Easter this year. It was really nice to have conference the same weekend of Easter; it just made it even more special. I always enjoy hearing from the prophet. Tyler's mission president is in the seventy now and he spoke in the last session of conference. His name is Gregory Schwitzer. Tyler was really excited to hear him speak.
Easter was also extra fun with Jacoby this year. We had several Easter egg hunts and he loved them because he thought they looked like balls. Ha ha. I even found some eggs that were sports balls. He got The Princess and the Frog, some books, and a bunch of candy. He ate way too many sweets on Easter, and so did I. Isn't Easter candy the best?
We had an Easter brunch with my family on Saturday in between sessions. We had lots of yummy food: brunch rolls, sour cream pancakes, fruit parfaits, hashbrowns, and eggs. (links to the recipes)
Later that day, us girls and our kids got together during the priesthood session. My mom had the idea to do a pizza party, so we ate pizza of course, made pizzas out of paper, made treat pizzas out of Rice Krispies, and read stories about pizzas. The kids loved it.
My parents got all the grandkids basketball hoops for Easter. Jacoby was thrilled to have another one, but Tyler's parents had just given us one, so we decided that we should switch it for something else. Thanks, dad, our apartment in Arizona will just be too small for 3 basketball hoops. :)
On Sunday after conference we went to Tyler's parent's to eat dinner. The food was really yummy. Jacoby got to do another Easter egg hunt and he loved getting more treats. We watched Sherlock Holmes with his parents and I highly recommend it.
